    Public Transportation

    New York City Transit

    Fares on the New York City transit system are $2.25 per trip (includes one free transfer—bus to bus, or bus to train, or train to bus). You can also purchase a multiple-ride or unlimited-ride MetroCard and receive discounted fares. Buses accept MetroCards or exact change only.

    PATH Rail System

    Fares on the PATH system are $1.75 per trip (pay-per-ride MetroCards are accepted at each station). Service to the World Trade Center is available from Newark Penn Station, Jersey City, and Hoboken in New Jersey. When you arrive at WTC, the Vesey Street exit will put you just in front of 7 World Trade Center.

    From New Jersey, arriving in Penn Station.

    Staten Island Ferry

    Service from Staten Island connecting to Manhattan MTA buses and subways.

    New York Waterway

    Provides service from points in New Jersey and along the East River in Manhattan. For information call 1.800.53.FERRY.

    Amtrak

    For travel from points throughout the United States and Canada, arriving in Penn Station.

    From Airports

    Taxi

    La Guardia Airport

    Taxis cost between $18-$28 and take about 20-40 minutes. Group rides are generally available at the dispatch lines outside the baggage claim areas. Group fares are about $10.

    John F. Kennedy Airport

    Taxis cost about $30-$40, and the trip takes about an hour. Yellow cabs into Manhattan must provide a flat fare of $45 plus any tolls. The meter will not be turned on, and the night surcharge will not be added. If passengers request multiple stops, the flat rate of $45.00 will be collected at the first stop in Manhattan, and the meter will be turned on for the remainder of the trip. The metered fare should be collected at the last stop, from the last passenger. You may find out more information about taxi fares in New York at the Taxi and Limousine Commission Web site.

    Newark Airport

    Taxis cost $30-$40, plus tolls, and the trip takes about 45 minutes. Group rates are available.

    Shuttles, Express Buses, and Rail

    SuperShuttle (blue and yellow van)

    Operates direct service daily, 24 hours, costs approximately $15. Return trip requires 24 hours notice. Telephone 1.212.209.7000, toll free 1.800.BLUE.VAN.

    Carey Airport Express

    Bus runs every 20 minutes, 6:00 AM to midnight, from all terminals. The ride takes about 40 minutes from LaGuardia, longer from JFK, depending on traffic, and costs $10-13. It takes you to Grand Central Station (42nd St).

    Gray Line Air Shuttle Minibus

    Serves a number of hotels directly, and costs $13-$16.

    New Jersey Transit Express Bus (Newark Airport only)

    Runs every 15 minutes from 6:00 AM to midnight (hourly after that). They will take you to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The fare is $7; buy your ticket inside the airport.

    Olympia Airport Express Bus (Newark Airport only)

    Also costs $11 each way or $21 round trip. It leaves every half hour, and goes to Grand Central Station, Penn Station, and the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

    AirTrain Newark

    The new regional rail transportation connection between Newark Airport and Penn Station. Passengers should take scheduled NJ Transit or Amtrak rail service to or from the new Newark International Airport Rail Link station, situated close to the airport terminals. At the Rail Link station passengers transfer onto AirTrain for the short ride. Passengers can also check flight information, purchase airline tickets and check-in for their flight.
