Frequently Asked Questions
What is a webinar?
Webinars are Web-based seminars that allow participants to view and listen to live presentations, and also ask questions of the presenters. For those who cannot attend our live meetings in person, webinars will give you an experience very close to experiencing the event in person. The webinar will allow you to:
- View live video of the event
- Listen to audio feeds of the presentations
- Participate via chat or audio in the Q&A sessions
How do I register for a webinar, and launch it on my computer?
Download our webinar requirements and reference guide for general information about how to participate in Academy Webinars.
I'm having trouble with hearing the audio. Can I listen in a different way?
Participants have the option of receiving audio by teleconference or VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). If using VoIP please note that audio quality may vary depending on your hardware, operating system, and settings, as well as network performance. For more information see VoIP Best Practices. If VoIP quality is poor, you have an option to join by teleconference using a phone but phone charges will apply as the dial in number is not toll-free.
Can I be heard at the meeting?
During the webinar, participants’ microphones will be muted to avoid background noise.
How do I ask questions of the panelists or speakers?
If you wish to ask a question during the webinar during Q&A, please use the Question pane to ask your question and raise you hand using the button in the Grab tab to be unmuted.
Are my comments or questions being recorded?
By registering for the webinar, you agree that any material, information, or idea you post to or communicate during the webinar by any means will be treated as non-confidential and non-proprietary, and may be disseminated or used by the New York Academy for any purpose whatsoever, including, but not limited to, developing and marketing products.
