Academy President's Council member Martin Chalfie told the New York Times that winning the Nobel Prize last year "turned me into someone who is listened to." Chalfie, who chairs the biological sciences department at Columbia University, won the 2008 prize in chemistry for his work with green fluorescent protein. He is featured in a Q&A interview in the New York Times science section on September 21.
