    A special issue presenting different papers in very different areas of both basic and medical research. (1) A study on the evolution of the diaphragm, placing the date for its first appearance approximately 50 million years earlier than previously thought; (2) a paper focusing on the relationship between the circadian system and glucose metabolism; (3) a primary research paper presenting evidence that N-cadherin negatively mediates the suppressive effects of parathyroid hormone (PTH) on sclerostin, ultimately influencing the anabolic effects of PTH on bone; and (4) a study indicating that use of rhythmic cueing may change gait patterns in adolescents with acute brain injury.
