  • Program Support

  • The New York Academy of Sciences relies on the contributions of its corporate members and donors to support its operations and activities. The Academy is seeking support to help expand the activities of the following programs:

    Frontiers of Science

Frontiers of Science is the Academy's core program of conferences and symposia. Our meetings bring together leading scientists from academia and industry, as well as junior investigators, engineers, physicians, executives, policy makers, educators, media, and government officials in an impartial environment. Academy conferences are supported by unrestricted educational grants from corporations, foundations, and government agencies. A number of conference support levels and exhibitor opportunities are available. Learn more about:

    Science & the City

Science & the City is the public gateway of the New York Academy of Sciences. The program’s mission is to foster interaction among New York's stellar science and arts communities and engage the general public in all that is happening at the intersection of science and culture in our city and at the New York Academy of Sciences. It hosts events focusing on scientific subjects of general interest, publishes a comprehensive calendar of public science events in New York City, and produces a weekly podcast focusing on science-related activities in the area. These are downloaded 50,000 times per week.

    Scientists Without Borders

Conceived by the New York Academy of Sciences and the United Nations Millennium Project, Scientists Without Borders aims to mobilize and coordinate science-based activities to improve quality of life in the developing world. A free, online database helps match needs with resources and enables its members to join forces across organizations, disciplines, and distances to deliver an impact that they could not achieve independently. More than a dozen prominent corporations have already pledged their support to Scientists Without Borders.

    Science Meets Business

New York faces an ongoing concern that a shortage of cross-sector interconnectivity has limited its ability to produce startup companies in science and technology. Science Meets Business brings scientific leaders together with venture capitalists, investment bankers, business development leaders, technology transfer executives, law firms, consulting firms, and entrepreneurs to help the city and state become more efficient in supporting entrepreneurs, new ventures, and innovation. By fostering better connectivity among these assets, Science Meets Business will help to derive a higher level of economic development and new venture creation out of New York’s tremendous scientific base.

    Publications

Since 1823, publishing has been an important element of the Academy’s mission to advance scientific knowledge. Signature publications include the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, one of the country’s oldest and most respected scientific periodicals, and Academy eBriefings, innovative online multimedia reports that document many of our Frontiers of Science meetings and scientific events produced by partner organizations. For information on how you can support these publications, please contact Douglas Braaten, Director and Executive Editor, Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, at 212.298.8634 or email dbraaten@nyas.org.
