Frontiers of Science is the Academy’s core program for convening scientific conferences and symposia. Bringing together international experts and partners from academia, industry, government, and beyond, Frontiers of Science provides a neutral forum for participants to exchange information on basic and applied research and on the broader role of science, medicine, and technology in society.
Frontiers of Science organizes approximately 12-14 interdisciplinary international conferences each year on frontier basic or applied research fields and on the broader roles of science and technology in society. We also run an extensive schedule of events organized around interdisciplinary discussion groups focused on current topics in the life sciences, physical sciences, and green science and sustainability, totaling approximately 80 meetings each year. Each discussion group meets several times annually, building communities with similar scientific interests, and providing a unique opportunity to learn about the latest scientific developments. Included in the discussion groups is a series of online seminars to our members who live outside the New York area, providing you with a way to have the experience of attending one of our onsite meetings even when you can’t be here in person. Webinars also include the opportunity to participate in the question and answer session with the presenters.
Proceedings of most Frontiers of Science events are published through our eBriefings and/or the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences. Members of the New York Academy of Sciences are entitled to free or discounted admission to all Frontiers of Science events, and to free online access to all publications that result from the meetings.

Conference Proposals
The Academy invites conference proposals in a variety of fields: biomedical sciences, chemistry, physical sciences, engineering, technology, and others. The Academy will give priority to conferences in cutting-edge, problem-oriented, multidisciplinary subject areas, as well as on issues faced by the public and private sectors at the interface of science, technology and society. Proceedings of Academy conferences are generally published as a volume of the prestigious Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences. Conference reports are also available as eBriefings, web-based multimedia reports written by professional science writers that feature conference highlights and are accompanied by slides and audio. For some recent eBriefings from Academy conferences click here.
It is our policy to send conference proposals for peer-review. This helps us assure that the proposal is of the highest quality and timely and the program is unbiased and balanced. Academy conferences and funded by educational grants from corporations, foundations and government agencies; the Academy does not have internal sources of support. The objectives and curriculum, as well as sponsorship policies, of Academy conferences adhere to ACCME principles. If you are interested in submitting a conference proposal, please review our proposal submission process (180 KB pdf). Proposals are accepted throughout the year; there is not specific deadline. To submit a conference proposal or for more information on organizing a conference with the Academy, please contact Dr. Kathy Granger at kgranger@nyas.org.
