Fostering Public-Private Partnerships for Nutrition Science

One of the main objectives of the Sackler Institute is to build communities around important areas of nutrition science.

In order to better foster public-private partnerships for interdisciplinary research in food and nutrition, the Institute has convened three broad steering committees on undernutrition, overnutrition and monitoring and evaluation.

These three committees will work to produce events, symposia, conferences and e-briefings with the aspiration that this will rally the nutrition science community around key areas in nutrition science. They will meet several times a year and build from one another’s work to generate research and discussion on cutting-edge nutritional issues.

The Academy has initiated this effort together with a leadership council consisting of members from 8 leading companies; and is actively seeking to expand the partnership within the agriculture, food, nutrition and wellness industry.

In seeking committee members, the New York Academy of Sciences solicited nominations from partners through the Academy’s global network as well as key stakeholders involved with the initial scoping exercises.
