Fostering Partnerships for Nutrition Science Research
One of objectives of the Sackler Institute is to build a public private partnership for nutrition science by building communities around important areas.
In order to better foster collaboration for interdisciplinary research in food and nutrition, the Institute has convened three broad steering committees on "undernutrition", "overnutrition" and "measurement, monitoring and evaluation".
These three committees will meet several times a year and build from one another's work to present and showcase their cutting-edge scientific research, and generate new collaborative research activities.
The Academy has initiated this effort together with a leadership council consisting of senior scientists from the research and development sectors of leading companies; as well as governments, and non-profit institutions, actively seeking to expand the partnership within the agriculture, food, nutrition and wellness sectors.
In seeking committee members, the New York Academy of Sciences solicited nominations from partners through the Academy's global network as well as key stakeholders involved with the initial scoping exercise for the Sackler Institute.
