Beatrice Renault, PhD, is Chief Scientific Officer at the New York Academy of Sciences. She began her career as a scientist who, after receiving her doctorate in molecular biology from the University of Pavia (Italy), did postdoctorial work in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. She joined Nature in 1997 and became chief editor of Nature Medicine in 1999. From August 2003 until she joined the Academy Dr. Renault was publisher of the Nature Research Journals, overseeing six titles: Nature Medicine, Nature Genetics, Nature Structural and Molecular Biology, Nature Cell Biology, Nature Immunology, and Nature Neuroscience.
