May 15, 2008

Dear Academy Members and Friends:

Discussions about improving the environment are often full of big promises, but are less often focused on the resources required and the economics behind those improvements. Join us on June 26th when the Academy's Environmental Sciences Section, along with our Harbor Project, will discuss current initiatives taking place in harbors, particularly Jamaica Bay, and how these plans may be valued.

We have more interesting meetings this summer - see the listings below - and we'll release eBriefings and Annals throughout the summer, so you'll have plenty of reading to take to the beach. Please note that we will cut back on the number of Upcoming Events emails during the summer months, in order to keep them newsworthy for you.

Sincerely,
Beatrice Renault, PhD
Chief Scientific Officer
