Overview
The Academy's Frontiers of Science program recognizes that investigators benefit from intimate seminars and discussion groups, in which principal investigators can meet alongside graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and other young investigators to exchange theories at the very cutting edge.
The Frontiers of Science program has committed itself to developing a broad array of discussion froups, in many of science's most dynamic and promising interdisciplinary scientific fields.
Discussion groups are characterized by:
• |
Leadership provided by some of the best and brightest scientists in the area in collaboration with Academy staff
|
• |
Representation by scientists from multiple different academic, industrial and government laboratories |
• |
Opportunities for networking with colleagues from many different fields who share common interests in cutting-edge research and application |
• |
Three to four meetings each year, each featuring high-quality talks by multiple senior scientists and junior investigators |
• |
A format that provides ample opportunities for discussion and interaction |
• |
Web-based dissemination of meetings in the form of eBriefings |
• |
A channel for each discussion group that provides the schedule of upcoming meetings, eBriefings on past events, steering committee contact information, and other information germane to the group |
|
Recommendations for new discussion topics are most welcome. Please e-mail them to ccooke@nyas.org.
