Journal of Industrial Ecology:
A must for those working or interested in industrial ecology. While a subscription is needed for full access, several articles from each issues are made available on the site.

International Society for Industrial Ecology:
Out of Yale University's School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and excellent site for understanding IE methodology and its applications. Provides information on conferences, publications, and resources, as well as job opportunities in the field of IE.

Earth Engineering Center
Columbia University. Provides information on projects utilizing the IE methodology.

Indigo Development
A research and consulting organization that creates systems for sustainable development through the use of industrial ecology. Contains information on IE and its applications.

NY/NJ Harbor
Baykeeper
A citizen conservation advocacy organization for the Hudson/Raritan Estuary's waterways and shores, the site provides information on events, conservation efforts, legislation, action alerts, and more.

Clean Ocean and Shore Trust (COAST)
A bipartisan, bistate Legislative Committee aimed at maximizing the ecological, economic, and scenic resources of the Hudson-Raritan Estuary and New York Bight, from Montauk Point, Long Island to Cape May, New Jersey. Check out the Virtual Estuary and Vortex for research relevant to these areas.

Contamination Reduction Assessment & Reduction Project (CARP)
Under the NY/NJ Harbor Estuary Program, CARP is aimed at understanding the fate and transport of contaminants being discharged into the estuary.

Harbor Estuary Program
A National Estuary Program authorized in 1987 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the site provides information on all aspects of the program and its goals.

NJ DEP
New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Information on various environmental issues in New Jersey. Search under NY/NJ Harbor for items of relevance to the Harbor.

NY DEC
New York Department of Environmental Conservation. Information on various environmental issues in New York State. Search under NY Harbor for items of relevance to the Harbor.

NYC DEP
New York City Department of Environmental Protection. Includes information on various activities that affect the NY/NJ Harbor.

PANYNJ
Port Authority of NY&NJ, Port Commerce Department's site. Provides a wealth of information related to economic and transportation activities in the Harbor.

Raritan Basin Watershed Management Project
A project of NJ DEP, the site includes information on all aspects of the initiative.

The River Project (TRP). Founded in 1986, TRP is dedicated to protection and restoration of the Hudson River ecosystem through scientific research and environmental education. TRP has also established an experimental facility at Pier 26 on Manhattan's lower west side to help restore an ecologically stressed habitat along the Manhattan shoreline.

U.S. EPA Region 2
EPA's regional site for New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and seven tribal nations. Search under NY/NJ Harbor for items of relevance.

The PPIC is a free, nonregulatory service of the U.S EPA dedicated to reducing or eliminating industrial pollutants through technology transfer, education, and public awareness.

National Pollution Prevention Roundtable
A membership-based roundtable aimed at promoting pollution prevention. Includes information on workgroups, conferences and events, and policies related to pollution prevention.

New Ideas in Pollution Regulation

The Minnesota Sustainable Communities Network
The Minnesota Sustainable Communities Network recognize that a transition to a more sustainable society is needed in order to leave a healthy natural environment, a prosperous economy, and vibrant communities for future generations. This network includes many individuals and organizations throughout the state working toward sustainability in areas as diverse as agriculture, waste management, energy, manufacturing, retail, urban planning, economic development, policy, housing, forestry, education, land use, and transportation.

Pollution Online
Pollution Online is geared toward the pollution control industry. It provides updated indicators to monitor changes in environmental conditions, information for companies to assess whether they are meeting EHS regulatory and management system requirements. It also reviews state-of-the-art technnologies and products, suppliers, and expert advice.

Binational Toxics Strategy Mercury Workgroup
Provides comprehensive information on mercury, including the impact on human health and wildlife, sources, and uses of mercury. An excellent site for mercury regulations and for scientific papers on all aspects of the metal.

Mercury Pollution Prevention in Healthcare
Developed under the auspices of the National Wildlife Federation, this report details a number of issues related to pollution prevention of mercury.

Brooklyn College, CUNY. Information and research links related to basic and applied studies of aquatic organisms and the environments they inhabit. AREAC's areas of research include biomedical research, aquaculture, environment/ecology, and fisheries biology.

Earth Pledge
The Earth Pledge organization seeks to identify and promote innovative techniques and technologies that restore the balance between human and natural systems. Through demonstration, education, and research, their goal is to deliver viable models to government, industry, and communities. New York region is used as a laboratory for implementing replicable solutions that will inspire and facilitate a global transition to sustainability.

The Earth Institute
Columbia University's Earth Institute brings together resources from throughout the university to address complex issues facing the planet and its inhabitants, with particular focus on sustainable development and the needs of the world's poor. International Society for Ecological Economics
A nonprofit, member-governed organization dedicated to advancing understanding of the relationships among ecological, social, and economic systems for the mutual well-being of nature and people. Provides links to articles and several institutions working on ecological economics.

Marine Conservation Biology Institute
Information on activities and events affecting the marine environment, as well as articles on various topics of interest.

New Jersey Sustainable State Institute
NJSSI is an independent, nonprofit institute providing balanced information, analysis, and practical strategies to help New Jersey develop on a sustainable path. The Institute began operations in June 2002 and is jointly affiliated with two leading state schools, the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in New Brunswick.
