The Science Alliance for Graduate Students and Postdocs is a consortium of universities, teaching hospitals, and independent research facilities in the New York City metro area that have formed a partnership with the New York Academy of Sciences. Through the Alliance, each institution sponsors Academy membership dues for all of their first-year graduate students and postdocs.
Our mission is to provide career and professional development mentoring for graduate students and postdocs in the sciences and engineering, through a series of live events and a dedicated web portal. In addition, the Science Alliance gives graduate students and postdocs the opportunity to network with their peers across institutions and with key leaders in industry and academia. Graduate student and postdoc representatives from each of the participating institutions form a Steering Committee, which helps shape, and develop Alliance events, programs, and web content.

Symposia, workshops, and other events are convened at least monthly on the topics listed below. Upcoming Science Alliance events are shown at the right.

Institutions need not be members of the consortium in order for their graduate students and postdocs to participate - but all participants must be individual Academy members.
If your institution is not a member (see Participating Institutions), you as a student or postdoc may independently become a full member at student rates. Your membership in the Academy includes full online access to Annals Online, deeply discounted prices on Annals print volumes, attendance at Academy lectures and seminars, access to the Science Alliance web portal, and more.
