Biomolecular Engineering Discussion Group
Every spring the Biolmolecular Engineering steering committee organizes a symposium that brings together scientists and engineers applying physical science and engineering knowledge to bioactive systems. The symposia highlight advances in molecular and protein design, self-assembly, gene circuit design, artificial cell design, and evolution that have applications in biology, medicine, environment and energy.
Past Events
Friday, April 27, 2012 | 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Organizers: Jin Ryoun Kim (NYU-Poly), Ronald Koder (The City College of New York), Jin Montclare (NYU-Poly), Raymond Tu (The City College of New York), Vikas Nanda (Rutgers University)
Biomolecular Engineering aims to design and engineer biomolecules for therapeutics, biocatalysts, protein-based biosensors, and more. This symposium will emphasize the design of oligosaccharides and proteins for materials and energy applications.
Friday, December 3, 2010 | 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM
Organizers: Ronald Koder (The City College of New York/CUNY), Jin Montclare (Polytechnic Institute of New York University), Jin Ryoun Kim, (Polytechnic Institute of New York University) and Vikas Nanda (Rutgers University)
This symposium will highlight the recent advances in both protein and nucleic acid engineering, specifically focusing on innovative approaches to tailor molecules with unique functions and architectures.
Tuesday, May 22, 2007 | 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Speakers: Ronald T. Raines (University of Wisconsin-Madison), K. Dane Wittrup (MIT), Stephen L. Mayo (Caltech), Virginia Cornish (Columbia University), Michael Hecht (Princeton University), Richard Gross (Polytechnic University), and Vito G. DelVecchio (Vital Probes, Inc.)
The symposium will focus on protein design, a subject that lies at the interface of chemistry, biology, engineering, and computer science, and will highlight the recent advances in proteins, specifically focusing on innovative approaches to tailor proteins with unique functions and architectures.
