  • Toni Hoover

    Toni Hoover is Senior Vice President and Director of the Pfizer Connecticut Research and Development Laboratories, where she is the general manager and senior leader responsible for creating the environment necessary for discovering and developing new medications to meet unmet medical needs.

    Toni joined Pfizer from Warner-Lambert in 2000 as Worldwide Portfolio Lead and Vice President of Global Project Management, providing key leadership in early and late-stage drug development activities for projects in the Neuroscience, Inflammation, Oncology, and Metabolic Diseases therapeutic areas. She led a large, multi-disciplinary team in the development and registration of Lyrica®, a drug for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia, epilepsy, generalized anxiety disorder, and fibromyalgia. Prior to her current position, Toni was the Development Site Head for Michigan Laboratories and the Development Site Head for Groton/New London Laboratories.

    In 2007 Toni was named one of the "Top 50 Women to Watch" by The Wall Street Journal and in 2004 she received the YMCA's Black Achiever in Industry Award. Toni is a member of the Pfizer Inc Diversity and Inclusion Worldwide Leadership Committee; the Pfizer Global Women's Council and the executive sponsor of the Pfizer Connecticut Laboratories' Hispanic Colleague Resource Group.

    Originally from New Orleans, Toni received her BA, MA, and PhD in psychology from Harvard University where she trained in experimental psychopathology and neuropsychological assessment. Beginning with her role as a clinical scientist for Parke–Davis Pharmaceutical Research Division, Toni has had an impressive career in the pharmaceutical industry for more than two decades, including being part of the team that successfully registered the first treatment for the signs and symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease—Cognex®.

    Toni is a member of the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS) Board of Governors, the board of directors for Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London, Connecticut and a member of the National Advisory Board of the University Musical Society affiliated with the University of Michigan. She is also a member of Board of Trustees for Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana, Three Rivers Community College (Norwich, CT) Foundation Board of Directors, the Joyce Theater Board of Trustees (New York City), the Advisory Board of the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association, the American Heart Association Founders Affiliate Board of Directors, and a member of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association Board of Directors.
