Konstantin Shakhnovich

Former Global Head, Citadel; former Partner and Global Head of Systematic Market-Making, Goldman Sachs

Konstantin Shakhnovich is a recently retired financial professional, with a focus on quantitative and electronic trading, statistical arbitrage, and financial technology.

Konstantin earned an HBA in Physics from the University of Chicago in 1996, followed by a PhD in Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in 2001.

From 2001 until 2019 Konstantin worked at Goldman Sachs, focusing on electronic market-making and trading automation across Equities and FICC.

Over the course of his career, Konstantin held a variety of leadership positions, starting as an Associate level Financial Engineer and ending as Global Head of Systematic Market-Making. While at GS, Konstantin was named Managing Director in 2007 and Partner in 2010.

Konstantin’s philanthropic interests have primarily focused in the area of STEM education, including engagement with a variety of secondary-school age programs and significant contributions toward establishing STEM-focused college scholarships.

Konstantin resides in lower Manhattan in New York City with his wife Elina and two children, Michael and Julia.
