Josh Romm is a strategic business development leader with expertise in global brand management and licensing. He has a 20-year track record of significantly growing licensing businesses ranging from entrepreneurial startups to large, multinational corporations and institutions. Before the Academy, Josh directed global licensing for the Smithsonian, spearheaded entry into international territories and STEM related initiatives.
Prior to his role at Smithsonian, Josh served as Vice President at IMG, the world’s largest licensing agency. As Director of International Business Development for Warner Bros., he led a global initiative to extent the studio’s IP into strategic new business categories. Josh has directed licensing programs and worked with notable global brands including Wells Fargo, DuPont, American Airlines, ESPN, Rolling Stone, Volkswagen, Neutrogena and the US Postal Service. Josh started his career at Johnson & Johnson and Mattel in brand management, forming his strategic foundation for licensing.
As a board member and program leader for The Global Children’s Organization, Josh directed sponsorship and development campaigns and ran conflict resolution programs for children in Bosnia and Northern Ireland, and represented the NGO at the UN Millennium Summit. Josh received his MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, and a BA in Psychology at Binghamton University.
