Susan Bender joins the Academy as Special Representative to the President for Education Partnerships. She has had a career as a development professional and as a financial advisor. Her work history includes: the establishment of American Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, where she was founding Executive Vice President; Assistant Vice President of Development at Jewish Theological Seminary; Vice President of External Affairs at Manhattan School of Music; and Financial Advisor at both Bernstein Global Wealth Management and Merrill Lynch. She has worked on projects in the United States, Western Europe, Russia, Israel, and Venezuela.
Susan is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in Art History with a minor in Romance Languages. She did supplementary study at the Sorbonne in Paris and Sarah Lawrence College, Florence, Italy.
