Scientific Speaking-Afternoon session at Columbia University

Scientific Speaking-Afternoon session at Columbia University

Tuesday, October 17, 2006

Columbia University, Davis Auditorium

Presented By

We are happy to announce a new public speaking seminar with presentation skills coach Lisa B. Marshall. Her seminars are very specific to scientific talks, such as lab talks, conference talks and job talks and she comes highly recommended from other strong academic biomedical research institutions. This seminar will help you to become a better, more effective presenter, which can help you in all aspects of your scientific career.

This seminar will present information to help you organize, deliver and design professional presentations using real examples from the biomedical community. Topics include: how to plan and structure a presentation, how to delivering using eye contact, gestures and vocal variety and how to create effective slides. More information can be found at

Volunteer presentation opportunities have been closed.

Here's what a colleague at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine had to say about the seminar …
"Your two talks were a smash hit with me and all of my colleagues …your points about slides were especially useful, particularly the critique of "real" slides...I would recommend this seminar with great enthusiasm to colleagues elsewhere. I think you provided a valuable service that somehow is overlooked in educating medical faculty. Thanks, and keep up the good work". Philip L. Cohen, MD, Professor of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine
