Mixed Greens Series: The Sustainable Works of Foster + Partners
Thursday, February 22, 2007
Presented by Green Buildings Discussion Group and the Skyscraper Museum
Speaker: Brandon Haw, Senior Partner, Foster + Partners
The second event in the Mixed Greens series features Brandon Haw, a senior partner at The Sustainable Works of Foster + Partners. Since 1995 he has pioneered office and retail developments in Canary Wharf, London for Citibank and the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. In 2000, he became responsible for Foster and Partners' first high-rise office building in North America for the Hearst Corporation—New York City's first major LEED certified office building using 95% recycled steel in a distinctive 'diagrid' structure.
Mixed Greens, a lecture series on sustainable design and skyscraper urbanism, features leading architects, engineers, and environmental consultants whose work in Europe, Asia, and the U.S. represents the state-of-the-art in high-performance high-rise design and green-building technology.
Mixed Greens is a collaboration between the Skyscraper Museum and the New York Academy of Sciences, and builds on the Museum's 2006 exhibition Green Towers for New York and the related lectures "Green Teams," available in a virtual archive at the Skyscraper Museum website.
Listen to the Science & the City podcast of curator and director Carol Willis's guided tour of the Skyscraper Museum exhibit Giants: The Twin Towers and the 20th Century.
