Supertall: Designing Structure of the Burj Dubai
Wednesday, May 23, 2007
Speaker: William F. Baker, Skidmore Owings & Merrill
The first event in the World's Tallest Building series will focus on the Burj Dubai, soon to be the world's tallest building.
The tower is designed by Chicago-based Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. It will include residential suites, offices and restaurants as well as four pools, a library and the Armani Hotel, Dubai. Although still under construction, it is already the tallest structure in Europe and the Middle East
The series is a collaboration between the Skyscraper Museum and the New York Academy of Sciences to coincide with the exhibition World's Tallest: Burj Dubai. It follows the Mixed Greens series which built on the Museum's 2006 exhibition Green Towers for New York and the related lectures "Green Teams," available in a virtual archive at the Skyscraper Museum website.
