The Greatest Show on Earth

The Greatest Show on Earth

Monday, October 19, 2009

The New York Academy of Sciences

“Intelligent Design” is being taught in our schools and educators are being asked to “teach the controversy” behind evolutionary theory. At the same time, creationists object that the world is too elegant, too complex to have developed without an intelligent designer and that there is no evidence for Darwin’s theory. So Richard Dawkins has decided to answer the creationists—and arm the evolutionists—with the spectacular evidence all around us.

Earning his reputation as “Darwin’s Rottweiler,” Dawkins lays out the evidence that evolution is an incontrovertible fact—the plain truth—with piercing clarity and panache. The Greatest Show on Earth is a thrilling tour into our distant past and into the interstices of life on earth. To be released in time for the 150th anniversary of On the Origin of Species’ publication, here is the case for evolution argued by the most fearsome intellect in public discourse.
