The New York Academy of Sciences

Presented By

Presented by the Science Alliance and Mendeley

Communicating effectively is difficult when emotions or stakes are high, or interpersonal dynamics are simply at odds. It's hard to articulate your point of view, and conversation often ends up doing more harm than good. As a result, some people avoid high-stakes conversations. Others try to take them head on, but are frustrated by their inability to get positive results. Join us as Mike Blank, member of the law faculty at Georgetown University Law Center, introduces tools for diagnosing where and why communication typically breaks down and techniques for responding productively to those really challenging moments. This interactive seminar follows up on his March Negotiation workshop and will again be geared towards the specific challenges that scientists face in and out of the lab.

Networking reception to follow.
