The Lyceum Society is comprised of the Academy's retired and semi-retired members. Talks cover various scientific fields. All Academy members are welcome.
All Lyceum meetings (except December) are Brown Bag lunches. Brown Bag: 11:30 am; Brief-Brief: 12:00pm; Lecture & Discussion: 1pm to 3 pm.
Byrne received a BSEE degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an MSEE from Cal Tech. From 1958-2001, he was at Bell Telephone Labs, Bellcomm, Telcordia, and other AT&T subsidiaries.
His career illuminates what corporations and individuals and contributed to the Apollo program and, in turn, how Apollo developed those skills for use by private industry, a unique accomplishment.
In mathematics: synchronization of digital signals for long distance communication, spectral analysis of seismic signals (in support of the Atmospheric Test Ban Treaty).
