Women in Science Wikipedia Editathon 2016

The New York Academy of Sciences

As we start the yearlong celebration of our 200th anniversary, we invite you to join us for our second annual Women in Science Wikipedia Editathon. At this event you can learn how to edit Wikipedia articles and also participate in our effort to add and improve Wikipedia entries on female scientists and their many accomplishments.

Last year we added and improved a number of Wikipedia articles, from one highlighting Eunice Miner, President of the New York Academy of Sciences for 32 years, to Nellie M. Payne, an American entomologist and agricultural chemist, to one-time Academy Board Member Marie Maynard Daly, the first Black American woman in the United States to earn a Ph.D. in chemistry.

This year we invite you to join us as we aim to bring even more female scientists to Wikipedia. You can join us for all or part of the live event, or you can participate virtually throughout the month of November.

Additional information is also be available on Wikipedia.

This event is free and participants may join for all or a portion of the event. Although on-site registration may be possible on the day of the event, pre-registration is highly encouraged due to space limitations.
