SciPhD – The Business of Science Certificate Program

SciPhD – The Business of Science Certificate Program

Saturday, October 28, 2017 - Saturday, December 9, 2017

The New York Academy of Sciences, 7 World Trade Center, 250 Greenwich St Fl 40, New York

Getting your first job in today’s market is tough.  You need to distinguish yourself from the many others competing for the same positions, and yet most traditional academic programs, emphasize scientific/technical skills, not business and social skills.

This comprehensive 36-hour program prepares academic scientists to be “business-ready” for professional positions, whether in academia, government, or industry.  SciPhD’s experiential “learn by doing” methodology provides hands-on training for participants to experience the essential skills valued and required by professional organizations.

The SciPhD certificate program raises awareness of business and social skills, and helps participants improve these skills using hands-on experiences. Topics covered in the nine sessions include:

  • The Business of Science
  • Communications for Scientists
  • Leadership Styles
  • Developing Your People
  • Networking for Success
  • Financial Literacy and Negotiating Your Total Compensation Package
  • Team Performance and Continuous Improvement
  • Project Management for Scientists
  • Behavioral Based Interview Experiences during the Program
