Second Annual Summit on Science Enablement for the SDGs: The Workshops

Second Annual Summit on Science Enablement for the SDGs: The Workshops

Monday, October 16, 2017, 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM EDT

Convene, 117 West 46th, New York, USA

Presented By

The New York Academy of Sciences

The New York Academy of Sciences, with encouragement from the UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the support of the UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed, presents the Second Annual Summit on Science Enablement for the Sustainable Development Goals to explore how science and technology can help strategically advance the delivery of the 2030 Agenda.

Building on the work done in the first Summit, the Workshops will address deeper questions on the role of science and technology in achieving the SDGs. Working groups will detail the next steps for research identified at the first Summit, provide technical roadmaps for the major areas of action, articulate high-level proofs of concept, and define metrics for success.

The cross-cutting themes of the Summit Workshops include: People in Crisis, Early Childhood Development, Sustainable Consumption and Production, and a new theme this year, Food Security and Nutrition.

Participation in the Summit is by invitation only. If you have not received a personal invitation and are interested in participating, please submit a request to Jennifer Costley, PhD, Director, Physical Sciences, Sustainability & Engineering at jcostley@nyas.org. Please indicate your qualifications for favorable consideration as a participant in and contributor to this meeting.
