The Informational Interview is one of the most valuable, and perhaps least utilized, tools for networking and career exploration.  An informational interview is conversation with someone who is working in a career that you find interesting and you would like to know more about.  It is a great way to learn more about that field, get advice on pursuing a similar career, and learn about opportunities to gain experience to fill out your resume or CV.

In this Webinar, we will discuss the basic structure of an Informational Interview, best practices for connecting with professionals in your field of interest, and why you should be using Informational Interviews as soon as possible to hone your networking skills and focus your job search.  Dr. Rebecca Nebel will provide tips and tricks for using Informational Interviews to find the job of your dreams.

This Webinar is intended for anyone interested in learning more about Informational Interviews and how to use them to secure a job you love.  This audience can include undergraduate students, graduate students, postdocs, or early career scientists seeking to learn more about a new career path.

We are happy to have Dr. Rebecca Nebel as our speaker. Dr. Nebel is the Director of Scientific Programs at the Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR), a national nonprofit recognized as a thought leader and pioneer in promoting research on biological differences in disease. Dr. Nebel provides strategic leadership and vision for SWHR’s scientific initiatives designed to improve research, diagnosis, treatment, and access to quality care for women. She currently oversees a vast portfolio of programs including activities in endometriosis, migraine, Alzheimer’s disease, sleep, and urology.

Prior to joining SWHR, Dr. Nebel was a Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellow at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine working on education policy. She also interned with the Higher Education Solutions Network (HESN) at USAID, where she helped promote HESN projects and drive future collaborations. Dr. Nebel received her PhD in biomedical sciences from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and her BS in biological sciences from Binghamton University.
