9 Young Scientists Transforming Our World
Thursday, March 5, 2020
11:00 AM - 6:00 PM GMT
Banqueting House, Whitehall, London, GBR

Can other planets support life? How does your brain work? What’s the next big idea for clean energy? How do you build a molecular machine?
These are just a few of the mind-boggling questions being answered by the honorees of the 2020 Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists in the United Kingdom.
Hosted by BBC News Science Correspondent Victoria Gill, this public series of short, interactive talks from early-career UK scientists will provide a forum for science enthusiasts from all walks of life—from high school students through university professors—to discover cutting-edge research that is shaping the way our world will look over the next century. Following the talks, a moderated discussion will explore trends and insights influencing the future of science in the United Kingdom. Whether you’re a scientist or science admirer, this symposium will introduce you to a multitude of ideas at the forefront of scientific research.
This event will take place at London's magnificent Banqueting House in Whitehall. Attendance is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

About the Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists
The Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists were established in 2007 by the Blavatnik Family Foundation to identify and honor exceptional young scientists and engineers by celebrating their extraordinary achievements, recognizing outstanding promise, and accelerating innovation through unrestricted funding. The Awards, independently administered by the New York Academy of Sciences, were established in New York and began as the Blavatnik Regional Awards for Young Scientists in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. In 2014, the program expanded to include National Awards in the United States, and in 2018 national award programs were launched in both the United Kingdom and Israel. To date, the Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists have honored 291 promising young scientists with awards totaling more than US$8.89 million.
