Webinar

Science and Comedy the two meet again!

After surviving a crash-course in comedy, a cohort of scientists from the New York Academy of Sciences will perform their late-night comedy talks live for a celebrity guest, and broadcast to all of you at home. It will be a brainy evening of laughter, learning, in the style of the best of late-night television, our participants will be calling in from home, potentially their bathrooms, and possibly wearing pants.

Join our livestreaming event and see the results of Science Riot's unique science communication training! You can receive a ticket for a donation of any amount, with all proceeds going towards our outreach training and programming that now takes place with our museums and partners still under lockdown. Science needs a voice now more than ever, and what better way than through humor?

The show is hosted by Dhaya Lakshminarayanan, an international working comedian with credits including Comedy Central Asia and winner of the Liz Carpenter Political Humor Award (previously awarded to Samantha Bee, Wanda Sykes). She also hosted a nerdy game show on PBS which won an Emmy!

Our special guest is Sammy Obeid, a Lebanese American born in Oakland California who double majored in Business and Mathematics at UC Berkeley, then turned down a job at Google to be a comedian. He is now the host of 100 Humans on Netflix. He’s also appeared on NBC's Last Comic Standing and America's Got Talent, as well as TBS’s Conan, and is best known for his world record of performing comedy 1,001 nights in a row, a story featured in both Time Magazine and The New York Times. He was recently voted "Fastest Rising Star” by Campus Activities Magazine and has since performed at hundreds of colleges across the US.

This event is intended for adult audiences only.
