Diversity and Inclusion in STEM: Leveraging your Network and Skills

Tuesday, August 11, 2020, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM EDT

Webinar

Presented By

Hudson River Park

The New York Academy of Sciences

Diverse top leaders and problem-solvers are critical to fostering and accelerating creativity and innovation in STEM.  This diversity is impossible unless we invest in efforts to make the STEM workforce more inclusive for women and those from underrepresented populations.

To achieve this, we need to promote diversity at all stages of the STEM pipeline and increase the number of people participating in scientific endeavors, inside and outside academia, as well as those that will help address the most pressing challenges of the 21 st century.

Join the Academy and Hudson River Park as we hear from a panel of diverse STEM experts who will talk about their work, the many opportunities available for students interested in exploring a STEM career, and the importance of supporting diversity in the STEM workforce.

This panel discussion is designed to offer strategies for high school and college students interested in STEM careers, as well as graduate students and postdocs. This will also be an avenue to expand your network and learn about  additional opportunities in STEM

During this webinar, you’ll hear from a panel of scientists on:

  • How to grow your career as a problem solver
  • What opportunities to look for to be successful in STEM
  • How to approach mentors when looking to navigate the STEM ecosystem
  • How to bring your complete self and be an authentic communicator and innovator
