The COVID-19 Pandemic has put a continued strain on the research enterprise in the United States. During the pandemic, labs of all types struggled to maintain an output of research while following quarantine guidelines and distancing rules. Furthermore, when it came time to bring researchers back into the lab and increase capacity, the solutions required were nuanced based needs of each lab. As university and industry labs navigated the return to full capacity, they took different approaches to manage the development and deployment of reopening plans. The purpose of this seminar is to invite conversation with a panel who have different perspectives and roles as they relate to lab management in COVID-19. An open and productive discussion about the following questions will allow the synthesis of guidelines for lab management in the time of COVID-19 and for future planning.

During this Webinar, Panelists Will Discuss the Following Topics:

  • How did experts from various institutions and positions handle lab shutdown and reopening in response to COVID-19?
  • How should institutions of varying size and scope approach lab management during COVID-19?
  • What are some solutions from researchers in the field that will enable a safer and more productive lab environment in the time of COVID-19?
  • Why was mental health such a paramount issue during quarantine and beyond?
  • What can we do to mitigate this and reduce anxiety and uncertainty in the future?
