Development Coordinator

JOB TITLE: Development Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Development

REPORTS TO: SVP, Advancement

SUMMARY:

The Development Coordinator is a key member of the NYAS Development team and is responsible for leading a range of activities that support fundraising. This includes assistance with maintaining donor relationships; prospect research & management; database management; fundraising events; and general department administration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Conduct research on potential donors: research gift opportunities for existing donors and help create strategy for new funders
  • Identify new prospects and share opportunities with appropriate Development and Program staff; prepare donor briefings
  • Process gifts, pledges and pledge payments
  • Assist with the donor acknowledgement process
  • Input info into Development pipeline document and other group resources
  • Data entry for own work and other gift officers into NYAS’ CRM - Raiser’s Edge; run reports
  • Research corporate sponsorship opportunities for events including conferences

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with planning and executing fundraising events or other activities
  • Prepare solicitation materials and provide support with mailing
  • Work closely with SVP and AVP of Advancement and Director of Development to assist in the preparation of proposals and reports
  • Organize donor files and Development documents
  • Draft correspondence on donor appeals and send out Annual Report
  • Develop website updates related to Development
  • Organize effort to develop new sponsorship benefits (CVENT)
  • Oversee Membership fulfillment on new funding received.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

None

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • 2 years related experience required
  • Research and internet skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Development databases (Raiser’s Edge or others), and Google Docs
  • Capacity to work independently and take initiative on own projects
  • Experience in development/fundraising is a plus
  • Maturity and diplomacy with an outgoing personality to engage with multiple audiences
  • Interest in Science, STEM, and the mission of the Academy.

WORK SCHEDULE & ENVIRONMENT:

The Academy operates during standard business hours Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm. Standard work week is 35 hours, unless otherwise noted.

Academy employees will be offered an option to work remotely, however employees must be based in New York.

This is a largely sedentary role.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The salary range for this role is $24.73- $30.22 per Hour ($45,000- $55,000 Annual equivalent). This is Full-time, non-exempt position.
