Scope of Responsibilites

The Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists is a highly successful program that utilizes resources across and beyond the New York Academy of Sciences. Established in 2007, the Blavatnik Awards program recognizes early-career scientists who have made innovative and interdisciplinary advances in Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Engineering, and Chemistry. Until 2014, the Awards were limited to applicants from the New York tri-state area but due to the tremendous success of this program the Academy was asked to extend its geographical coverage to include young faculty-rank scientists across the United States. Since 2014, the Blavatnik National Awards have been recognizing outstanding young faculty members, with nominations invited from over 300 institutions across the United States. The success of the National Awards has been recognized by both the Academy and the Blavatnik Family Foundation, leading to the launch of two new international Blavatnik Awards in 2017.
