Amplifying the Importance of STEM

At a time that underscores the vital importance of STEM education and science-based decision-making, the Academy celebrates the many ways that those in our global community are working to advocate on behalf of science for the public good. One group in our network, our Academy Ambassadors, has been volunteering throughout this unique and challenging year to amplify the importance of STEM on social media.

This year, harnessing the power of their collective social media networks, nearly 200 volunteer Ambassadors helped the Academy increase public understanding of science by sharing inspirational and informative stories about students, scientists, and educators around the world. Ambassadors shared their own experiences of how they’re adapting to the realities presented by COVID-19, and have been helping to spread information about virtual Academy programs, events, and opportunities that are accessible to people around the globe.

As the fourth year of the Ambassador program draws to a close, we are more thankful than ever to see these individuals stand up as a force for positive change.
