How Can We Make Math More Accessible?
Published November 19, 2018
Many people find math inaccessible or intimidating, but science writer and artist Margaret Wertheim thinks it often comes down to the way we are taught. During a recent visit to the Academy, she chatted with our most famous Member about discovering the beauty of mathematics as a child, and how she is now using innovative techniques (and crochet needles!) to make math more accessible to everyone.
Margaret Wertheim is the author of several books on the cultural history of physics. She also creates exhibitions at the intersection of science and art which are shown around the world. Margaret joined us recently—along with physicist S. James Gates, Jr.—for a panel discussion on the beauty and limits of math.
Despite his advanced age, our Darwin is a curious fellow who loves learning new things. If you feel the same, why not join him in supporting curiosity around the world?
