The Sackler Institute for Nutrition Science

We are making a deliberate effort to promote the translation of science into public use, and to advance our “Discovery to Delivery” pathway.

- Dr. Gilles Bergeron

Executive Director

The Sackler Institute for Nutrition Science is dedicated to advancing nutrition science research and knowledge and applying our work in the field to mobilize communities. Taking a collective action approach, our initiatives address micronutrient deficiencies, obesity, adolescent nutrition in low income areas, the use of electronic health records for public health, and many more issues.

Projects we fund

Projects selected for funding will support understudied topics where multi-disciplinary approaches are needed, with a focus on implementation science. Adolescent Nutrition is a key area of current and future funding, and other areas are solicited through RFP. We occasionally consider unsolicited proposals that are solidly linked to our areas of interest and focus on implementation. To submit your proposal, email a one-page concept note to nutrition@nyas.org

What we’ve been up to lately

The Sackler Institute team recently convened a workshop in London on Sustainable Nutrition and supported the launch of of the new Lancet Series on Early Child Development in Mexico. We also participated in a meeting of the Collaborative Group on Adolescent Pregnancy and Obesity and hosted our first workshops on Vitamin D and Thiamine. And finally, we collaborated with the Micronutrient Forum to host a workshop on evidence-based tools for decision-making in nutrition programs.
