    Summary

    June 10, 2027 | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM ET

Join world-leading experts at the forefront of neurodegenerative disease research for a one-day symposium on June 10, 2027.

The New York Academy of Sciences proudly presents “Reimagining Neurodegeneration Treatments: Unraveling Proteinopathy and Neuroimmune Signaling.”

This event brings together scientists and clinicians from academia and industry focused on neurodegeneration, inflammatory and innate immune pathways, translational researchers and biomarker experts to define next‑generation therapeutics.

Neurodegenerative disease like Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) remain an area of profound unmet need, with limited therapeutic options and a shortage of mechanism-linked biomarkers that enable efficient disease detection and treatment. Emerging evidence indicates that misfolded proteins drive the onset and progression of neuronal dysfunction and degeneration, impacting processes such as  lysosomal function, lipid metabolism, immune pathways, RNA metabolism, among others. This symposium aims to understand these overlapping pathways in neurodegenerative disease to discover new targets, biomarkers, and mechanisms to address the downstream effects of protein aggregation and neuronal degeneration.

This program will provide a translational roadmap from molecular mechanism to quantifiable biological outcomes and early clinical decision making, aiming to accelerate therapeutic development across proteinopathies and facilitate the application of these insights to neurodegenerative diseases more broadly.
